Upgrade from very Old version - How To

Make sure that all local transactions have been uploaded, before you start.
Establish from doing a small value test that new transactions are uploading to the server, header and body (linked_items), and that the system correctly subtracting from stock as you sell.
Check the test item only.

Do not touch the server, until all the local upgrades are complete.

Workstations can continue to trade as usual.
They should be online using the old thinpos.exe and file structures.

Physically disconnect one PC at a time from network.
On this PC, upgrade thinpos.exe and from the toolbox, complete all upgrades.
Change the Till / Terminal number.
New number must be in the format XXa (Anything, Anything, Alpha).
Work methodically across the floor.
When all PCs are upgraded and trading offline.

Keep all workstations offline and Approach the server at this stage.
Perform all the upgrades in toolbox on the server.
Some steps that affect transaction tables will take very long.
From past experience we found that every 5million records took 2 hours.
When server upgrades are done, Bring on workstation at a time, online and login and logout. The system will upload all offline transactions.
Repeat for all workstations.
